About me
I am an On-Set Fitter / Draper specializing in Women's Bridal, Couture, and Ready-to-Wear, Men's Formal and Casual wear, and Children's Clothing.
Growing up, my mother and I shared an old Kenmore sewing machine which rarely moved from our dining room table. I spent countless evenings sewing and watching MTV while I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer.
When I was 14, I wrote a letter to actress Marlo Thomas (That Girl TV fame), who was also a spokesperson and model for the McCall Pattern Company, asking for advice on how to pursue my career.
She suggested I attend a college that offered design classes and stationery to my surprise, she wrote back a signed letter on her personal keep up with current trends. Inspired by her advice, I graduated with a degree in Art History and a minor in Textile Design and Metalsmithing from the University of Kansas.
Years later, when I moved to New York City, I serendipitously landed a dream job at, none other than, McCall Pattern Company working as a liaison between the designers, writers and pattern makers.
I wrote another letter to Marlo Thomas to let her know that the advice she gave me 22 years earlier helped guide me into the career I had always wanted. She wrote back to say how happy she was and wished me the best. Both letters are framed and now hang above my sewing machine.
